A PDO thread lift is an innovative treatment in the world of aesthetics. Firstly, for its mechanical results in instant skin lifting. Secondly, it contracts fat tissue to result in instant skin tightening. Third, it promotes collagen production and neovascularization to renew your skin at the cellular level. All of these benefits work together to give you enhanced skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles and more elastic skin.
COG threads are a type of PDO thread but with barbs or “cogs” along the thread. These barbs anchor into the tissue, allowing the thread to physically lift sagging skin. This makes them especially effective for areas that need structural support and visible elevation. COG threads are commonly used to redefine the jawline, lift drooping cheeks, correct nasolabial folds, and raise the brows or neck area. They’re ideal for clients experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity who want a non-surgical facelift alternative with immediate lifting results and gradual collagen stimulation for long-term skin tightening.
PDO threads are a discreet anti-aging treatment. Ageing affects the face in many different ways – the most common concerns are hollow cheeks and a loss in collagen and elastin, which can give a sagging or aged appearance to the face
This treatment can be used to better contour facial features and to increase the skin’s firmness, as well as to bring enhanced definition to the cheeks and cheekbones giving a fuller and more youthful look.
The key difference between a PDO thread and a COG thread lies in their structure and purpose:
This treatment involves suturing or stitching sagging skin on the face with absorbable sutures. This works to regenerate collagen in the areas where it is carried out. A local anaesthetic will be needed first and then a suture will be inserted under the skin about 3-5 millimetres in depth. The suture is then held in place with absorbable cones oriented in opposite directions. Your practitioner will perform a slight compression of the tissues to reshape by hand and achieve the best lifting effect possible.
The treatment improves skin laxity, reduces pore size and enhances overall skin tone. It can stimulate the hypodermis, which increases the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic (HA), while accelerating skin metabolism. PDO threads can also produce collagen regeneration accerlates over time, improving appearance of wrinkles and folds, enhancing elasticity and brightening the patient’s complexion of ageing skin.
The results from PDO thread treatment can last up to 18 months depending on patient’s medical conditions, skin type, age, lifestyle and other factors.
Our practitioner will look to manage discomfort as much as possible. You may experience mild discomfort during and immediately following your PDO thread treatment. The practitioner will use or may use injectable and/or topical anaesthetic, which numbs the treated areas and helps to reduce the pain associated with the treatment.
The PDO thread treatment results will depend on the patients age, lifestyle, medical background and skin quality. You will notice some visible results immediately after treatment, however results will improve over a period of two to six weeks as the PDO thread start to stimulate the body’s natural ability to produce new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA).
